Quick Facts
The Friesian (also Frisian) is a horse breed originating in Friesland, a province of the Netherlands. Although the breed's conformation resembles that of a light draft horse, Friesians are graceful and nimble for their size. During the Middle Ages, it is believed that the ancestors of Friesian horses were in great demand as war horses throughout continental Europe.

20/04/10 - Cass gets Gold Medal
Cass, my daughter, is in Adelaide with the NSW Contingent at the Australian Special Olympics, representing NSW in the Australian Championships. Today was the first day of Competition for Cass, who is on the NSW Ten Pin Bowling Team. She proudly came thru the doubles with a Gold Medal. Special Olympics is a WorldWide Organisation Fostering Sports for the Intellectually Disabled. Special Olympics is every bit as important to the ID's as the Paralympics are to the Physically Disabled. Cass has represented NSW and Australia in Equestrian, Dressage, with the Para's, and was a member of the Australian Paralympic ID Talent Squad, for a number of years, until the ID's and PD's were separated. Unfortuneately there was no Equestrian Team in Special Olympics, so that is how Cass fell into the SO Ten Pin Bowling, as she was Bowling recreationally with friends from work, and the Local Group, Macarthur Special Olympics, encouraged and supported them all emotionally, financially, and physically, and gave them the Opportunity to be Everything They Can Be.
18/04/10 - Ninny, Zahara & Zippa come to visit
Our lovely welshie cob, Ninny, and her children (by Wizzie), Zahara & Zippa, came home for a visit. Thier owners, Allison, Dean, Lauren & Sarah, have just moved into thier new home, that has been a long time building, and now they are doing major earth works, fencing and building new facilities for the Black Beauties, so they have come back to CN for a holiday over winter, until thier new home is ready for them.
It looks like Miss Zahara may even go off to the trainers, so she will be ready to go home as a grown up riding horse. We will keep you posted on her progress, as Zahara has already been hugely succesful in hand, taking home Champions and Reserves in strong company, and looks set to become a star under saddle.
Zippa is enjoying meeting other little people like him, in the weaning paddock, and Ninny is just glad to join the CN 1st Wives Club, who are all enjoying a much needed Child Free Break from the babies.

A huge congrats to Sharon Sorenson of Kingslee Park Friesians, one of her youngsters, Nico KP, a 4yo Friesian Paint X won his 4yo class at the DWTS, with an impressive 9 for walk and canter, his new owners are over the moon. Nico is by Sharons now deceased stallion, Felipe Maurits, who is by Pike and bred at the Friso Stud WA. Felipe has certainly left his mark in his sadly all too short life.
06/03/10 - Afke Rose & Bethanie go to Interschools Champs
After lots of rain, intense heat, raging flu, back to school and life in general, Bethanie & Afke Rose finally made it to the Interschools Championships at SIEC. Afke had very little time to train with Bethanie, but they pulled out all the stoppers on the day and performed beautifully in two great novice dressage tests. Afke proceeded to win hearts with her calm demeanour, and pretty looks, so more Friesian Fans are out there now!! Congratulations to Bethanie for giving Afke the confidence to be a calm and stunning girl all day. Bethanie is now learning how to fend off the fans that friesians often have trailing after them!!

Katrina said it is such a buzz, starting from conception and now progressing to actually training and riding Merlin, all herself. Merlin has already become quite a star out showing in hand, and has always won classes and hearts with his eyecatching looks and friendly demeanour. Katrina has recently dabbled in the Jousting world, and has been playing with Merlin at home, to see if he has an apptitude for Skill at Arms, and nothing seems to faze him.

5-6/12/09 - 2009 NSW State Andalusian Championships
What a big weekend. Joey & Lew brought Jelco down from Moonbi for the weekend so CavalloNero could show off both our boys together. I was so proud of Jelco, he has grown up from the gangly colt that left to go to Moonbi to start work. We had lots of our CN Friends come out to show us fabulous support and cheer us on. The boys came home with a swag of ribbons and trophies. Full results will be posted asap. We also got to catch up with Wendy & Ron, with Hotse again, and to see the three boys together was great. Big plans by us all to make it happen as much as possible, as we all had a ball together. Wendy & Ron are going to try and come to Sydney for more dressage comps, and I am going to try to get up thier way too.
03/12/09 - Ruby has a filly
Ruby Kinleyside (XWizzie) had a Black filly with white socks on both back legs, a white star and snip. She is Ruby's first foal, born in the early hours of 3/12/09 just a couple of days before the NSW Andy Champs. Ruby's girl and Ambars girl will make a great matching harness pair in the future for Carolyn.
18/11/09 - Ambars Black Magic has a filly
Ambar Kinlyside and her paddock mate, Ruby are both visiting CN to foal down. Both the girls are in foal to Wizzie.
Ambar foaled a stunning filly this morning. Number 5 girl for CN this season.
We were hoping for colour, so next time I will request lots of bling, as we got colour in the form of a big white star and snip, not even a belly splash!
It is now up to Ruby to produce all the bling.
As yet unnamed, this filly will have to have a mystical name with mum being Ambars Black Magic and dad being The Wizzard.
She is big and strong, with the trademark Wizzie curls on her coat.
16/11/09 - Our Beautiful Minke Rose welcomes another daughter - Zamphire Rose
Minke surprised me on monday morning, I had returned from the weekend at Shoalhaven Dressage Champs, and thought Minke was still days away from foaling.
When I fed the girls brekky, a bit late, I looked into the stable as Minke wasnt calling impatiently for her brekky, and found yet another filly for CN.
Zamphire Rose is a 75% Friesian Warmblood by Orlando Maurits (Ster Stallion).
She has lovely long legs, so friendly and is destined to follow in her mum and siblings footsteps as a future star.
14-15/11/09 - Shoalhaven DC 2009 Championships
We had a fabulous time, as usual, at Worigee. Great Grounds, Great Facilities, Great Club and Great Company, we are always made welcome.
Wizzie got a 5th in his Associate Novice (woops, Shirl decided to add her own direction), a 5th in Official 2C, and we were stoked with our 2nd in the Official 2D.
Allison and her family spent the weekend with us, and it was great catching up, with lots of new friends made.
Wizzie lapped up all the attention!
Looking forward to next year, Allison will be riding next year, so we might even make it down to Nowra more often for a regular family get together.

09/11/09 - Giselle has a filly named Solitaire
Email from Marilyn Brown, NSW
Just wanted to let you know that my mare, Giselle (Wychway Lass), has given birth to a filly. She is certainly not black and looks like she will take after her mother who is chestnut. She has slender, Thoroughbred legs but doesn't have the Thoroughbred head so I'm assuming this is more like the Friesian. Her ears curve in at the tips which I read somewhere is a characteristic of the Friesians.
Anyway, she's gorgeous and her mother thinks she's the most precious thing in the world! We can't work out how to send photos via e-mail, but, if we do, I'll send you one.
Regards,
Marilyn Brown
03/11/09 - Afke & Bethanie start work
Afke Rose is Minke Rose's daughter, and she has been on maternity leave, raising her daughter, Zanthe Rose.
Zanthe Rose has now gone to her new home with Candace & Noel, so Afke Rose is starting work.
Bethanie is now riding Afke Rose.
Afke Rose looks like she will head in the same direction as her mother. Already she is turning heads.
28/10/09 - Bay Filly for Meggie
Nutmeg had her first foal, to Wizzie, and this filly has attitude to burn.
We have dreams of Ziva being a pony dressage contender, or even an Interschools prospect.
She has movement, attitude and looks, with her dads trademark curly coat, feathers, mane and tail, in an eyecatching brilliant bay baroque style package.
Definitely a fairytale friesian with a difference.
28/10/09 - Belle Klaasen has colt
Sparrow of Sparta, is Belles son.
Belle is a lovely black arab who came to CN to visit Wizzie last season.
Just look at those curls!!
Congrats to Nick and Mel, who already have a Felipe Filly.
27/10/09 - Shiraz has a colt
Yaralla Zues Magic made a spectacular and very public entrance into the world.
Shiraz came to CN to visit Wizzie last season, and gave her mum, Bianca a few worrying moments by having a few complications in the last few weeks, but came thru it all, and now has a healthy, active colt.
Biancas hubby was an unplanned midwife and filmed the whole process, under the watchful eyes of all the neighbors, as they live on acres in suburbia.
See this U-Tube Link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0M1Q1Tggpdc

Charlotte, AKA Princess, has come home for a visit, just to make sure that we are keeping the farm and all the horses in Tip-Top Order.
She was giving orders and checking everything was done just right, as if she was never away.
Hopefully a baby or two will arrive while she is here, Charlotte hates to miss out on baby season.
30/09/09 - Mischkulnig Girls have thier babies
PICS TO COME
Julie Mischkulnig of Quamby Homestead, Victoria, had her 3 girls AI'd last season with the following results
Taffy AKA Docs Mescal Maid (QH) had a lovely filly that looks like she could be a buckskin on the 9/09/09 (a very lucky date) and named her Jonti
Cobigan Nikki (Perch/Fries/TB) had a jet black filly on 24/09/09, as yet unnamed
Milly Storm (TB/ASH) had a lovely bay colt with a white star on the 30/09/09, named Jethro
Julie said they are the most beautiful babies!! - Wizzard was definitely the best choice for these three girls - great bone and fabulous temperaments, and they all just love cuddles.
Congratulations to Julie and her girls, you have all done a great job.
28/09/09 - Very Sad Day at CN

In the midst of all the joyful news of new babies arriving, we at CN have had a very sad week, with the sudden loss of our very special boy, Zai.
He has in his short 20 months of life, touched so many, none so much as Bethanie and her family, he meant as much to them as he did to us.
We are dedicating a page just for him, as his story is a special one.
My family believe that when one is taken, his soul lives on in a new life born at that same time, and he will look over the new life. Zai is one of these very special souls.
28/09/09 - Millie has a filly
Millie is another of Wizzies girls, she came for a short visit from Batemans Bay last season. Millie is a little late to motherhood, and has amazed us all with her textbook visit, pregnancy and birth. She is very proud of her girl, insisting the whole family got lots of cuddles and bonding.
Congrats to Rosemary, Millie, and the rest of the Bunn Family.
Millie's girl is a special little soul to the CavalloNero Family, she came into the world as our special boy was leaving this world.
27/09/09 - It's a boy for Cheyenne
Cheyenne came to visit Wizz last season.
This is the notice we recieved from the happy family
IT'S A BOY. New addition to the Zander family. He is so cute!! And has the longest eyelashes and the curliest tail. Mother and Son are doing well. The rest of the family are looking forward to getting some sleep now. Cheyenne and Wizzard have done us proud.
Congrats to Cheyenne and the Zander Family, a handsome boy with loads of bling!!
27/09/09 - Jazz finally has her foal
Jazz is our Maiden TB mare, and she was a textbook birth and mum.
The Filly, Jala, is a dark bay/brown, elegant and pretty girl with a dishy little face.
She will be an ideal sporthorse or performance horse, that something special for your Friesian Dream. Jazz and Jelco are both 16.1hh, with Jelco still growing, so we expect this pretty filly to reach at least 16hh and probably more.
22/09/09 - Bron has a dream
Bron & Brendan live in Victoria.
It was Brons birthday on the 22/09/09. As a gift for her birthday, Brons Hubby, Brendan, organised a day trip up to CN for Bron to visit her Pin-Up Boy, Our Wizzie.
We had a lovely day and they were both ready to pack up Wizz and Itchie, and anyone else they could fit, and take them home.
We wish them all the best, in their dreams to own and breed friesians, and they are well on thier way with thier plans, having just sold their home, and now packing up, and looking for a new home to start their own Friesian Fairytale.
7/09/09 - Wizzies 1st foal of the season
It's a girl!! The first foal of the season for Wizzie.
Congratulations to Xena and the Collishaw Family at Col Del Bullock Horse Ranch.
Xavier is a 15/16ths Friesian, loaded with Wizzies curls and mums looks.
29/08/09 - NSW AWHA Gala Day
Wizz won Reserve Ridden Exhibit
Anastazia placed 2nd in the U2yo class, her first show and she was very brave
Zai & Bethanie were absolutey perfect. 1st time for Bethanie, but she did a great job. They placed 4th in the U2yo. Thier workout was perfect and the best behaved, I am so proud of them both, and can see a bright and succesful future for them. What a team they make.
24/08/09 - SCEC Dressage
Wizz and Shirl went to their first comp with the new EA Tests, after quite a break since June, and happy with the results of a 2nd place in the Offical 2C and 6th place for the Associate 2B.
12/08/09 - Jelco's 1st foal

12/08/09 - The first foal for the season.
Zalie Espana X Jelco.
Zalie was one of CN's babies out of The Carrock Xylona and by Felipe Maurits, and now she has presented her owners, Michael and Sabina with a beautiful black and quite chunky filly.
This stunning 7/8's filly is also a first foal for Jelco, our young Foalbook Stallion, and we are thrilled with little Astonia.
Congratulations to Michael, Sabina and Zalie Espana.
3-5/04/09 - 2009 QLD State Andalusian Championships
Wizzie, Cass & Shirl made the huge trip to Qld for the Andy Championships. Leesa and I had made plans when she bought Zucchero, now Matador, that we would get together one day, and this show was it. Wizz and Matador had a ball, it was so great to see both my boys out competing together, and to see Matador has blossomed into the performer I always knew he was, with Leesa. It is so great to see when you sell one as precious as Zucc was to me, that they go on to become even more precious to thier new owner, as Matador now is to Leesa. Wizz even won the Exhibition Class Trophy. We met the new Hotse, and it was fabulous to have such a line up of boys at the one show. Newcomers to the friesian breed got to see three distinctly different but equally awesome friesian types all in one place, and made new friends with Ron & Wendy, who campaign Hotse for Miriam, and have been won over by our beautiful black pearls.
