Quick Facts

The Friesian (also Frisian) is a horse breed originating in Friesland, a province of the Netherlands. Although the breed's conformation resembles that of a light draft horse, Friesians are graceful and nimble for their size. During the Middle Ages, it is believed that the ancestors of Friesian horses were in great demand as war horses throughout continental Europe.

Jelco is only just coming into work now, and is in training at Welkin Way Training Centre in Tamworth, NSW.  He was bought for my daughter of Zadel Friesians as her future dressage mount, but family circumstances meant he couldnt be with her.

Jelco will be home for a limited season each year, but is available throughout the breeding season for Frozen, Chilled and Live Cover at his trainers property in Tamworth.

Although his riding career got off to a slow start, he has been on a couple of outings, with Novice scores of around 70%.

Jelco had a limited breeding season to select mares last year, and his first foal was born recently (see news page), she was a lovely big 7/8's black filly, out of one of our mares, who was sold as a weanling. She is beautiful, and if she is any indication of his progeny, we are very excited.

Jelco is still growing, and we are pleased with his progress to date.
